We’re looking for a washing machine and a fridge for a lady who has lost everything in a house fire in Ellenbrook last week. Great timing at Christmas !! If you can help out please let me know.

My long-awaited (for me, anyway) shopping tours are finally available for sale !

We will be staying at the Lokha Legian, which is a four star boutique hotel right in the heart of Legian. Walking distance to markets and Kuta Square. It is actually a 10 minute walk to Kuta Square, but quite frankly, you’ll be lucky to make it within a few hours, with all the shopping distractions along the way ! We are also planning a day trip up to Ubud to their fabulous art markets, and a cooking school option if enough people want to do that. Prices on application. (Ubud shopping will be VERY cheap, probably only about $20 for a full day, including lunch. Cooking school won’t be much more.). We will be running regular trips to the various markets and shopping areas, will be able to point you in the right direction if you are after a particular item (I am looking at you, beading /necklace making people) and will generally be available for advice and assistance with bargaining tips and the best place to buy DVDs that actually WORK ! (quick tip, DVDs and necklaces are around $1 each.). Of course, if you want to spend the whole four days at Waterbom Park or parked at the swim up pool bar at the Lokha, then knock yourself out !

Homewares (OMG I bought the most stunning mosaic bowls. Broke one on the way home. Gee whiz, I guess I need to go back to Ubud to get another one..)

Have I mentioned the necklaces were $1 ?

Make up

Silver (FABULOUS factory outlet)

Tablecloths / runners / placemats etc

Pretty much fake anythings.

Surfwear (genuine and fake. There’s a Billabong and a Haviana store in Kuta Square)

Of course, not forgetting the $1 beers available during ‘Happy  Hour” (which for some reason goes on for most of the day..)

I’ve mentioned the $1 necklaces, right?

Oh, and there are some really lovely spa’s in the Seminyak area, which is about 5 mins north of Legian, where we are staying.

Booking / Payment options are as follows:

OPTION ONE

Deposit of $50 per person payable by 20 December. (an indication that you want to go on this trip)

Further deposit of $150 per person payable by 15 January (your booking is now fully confirmed)

Final payment due no later than 27 March 2010

OPTION TWO

Deposit of $200 per person due within 7 days of making your booking

Final payment due no later than 27 March 2010.

Please note that the full deposit of $200 per person is required in order for your booking to be fully confirmed. As we are leading up to Christmas, I am happy for you to pay a smaller deposit to ‘save you a space’ until after Christmas, when the full deposit will be due.

You are able to make regular smaller payments, so long as full payment is received by 27 March 2010. Further details will be provided once you have booked.

All deposits are non-refundable. Travel Insurance is MANDATORY and will be an additional cost. I am able to provide you with a cost when you are ready to book.

Local Ellenbrook Chef-Explorer Brendan Murphy has been contributing to your local ‘Swan Magazine’

and ‘Windows on Ellenbrook’ for over 5 years now and has at last written a book. A prolific diary

writer ,Traveller, Chef and TAFE Lecturer for the last 30 years, Brendan has put together his first book

of a planned Series.

Under the name Chef Explorer, a whole series of books are planned including titles like ‘Chef Down Under’,

‘Chef on the Piste’ and ‘Chef For Starters’ all containing true stories about his experiences as a chef in

different parts of the world, in a format not unlike the James Herriot Vet series of old.The first in the

Series is entitled simply ‘A Taste of the World’, a collection of true short stories, recipes and a

cultural history of each country, which will hopefully act as a Taster for the whole series and is targeted

for the whole family to read, enjoy and cook up a storm.

So if there any potential Master-Chefs out there or you are looking for an ideal local Christmas pressie,

then come along and attend Brendan’s book launch. A selection of ‘Chef-Explorer Tasters’ will be served!
