Today I was involved in a First Aid Course for kids – run by Dave Wallis from Wallis Training.  The day started out with ten kids ranging from 8-12 yrs old coming along to learn how to save someone’s life.  I was amazed how quickly the kids picked up what the trainer was teaching and they had a ball.They were taught the important basics such as their own home phone numbers, emergency numbers and what to say when they did call.   The course ran for roughly two hours and covered:  treatment for spider bites and snake bites, how to assess if someone is unconcious and what to do next, CPR on adults and babies and lots more.  When Dave was teaching them about the ‘zapper’(Defibrilator) they were all jumping up and down to be first- we had lots of laughs!!  They had a unique perspective on situations and at the end of the course were actually asking for a quiz……in return for a FREE First Aid Kit!!! Ha ha good try kids.  I was really pleased at how much they got out of the course and enjoyed themselves.
